Hey, my name is Tanya!
There has never been an animal I couldn’t find something about to love.
Whether it was a bird, a kitten, a squirrel or even a snake, I could love them all.
This was inherently obvious growing up, but also inopportune for both
my parents, as my love never wavered, and the animals kept coming. It

Whether it was a bird, a kitten, a squirrel or even a snake, I could love them all.
This was inherently obvious growing up, but also inopportune for both
my parents, as my love never wavered, and the animals kept coming. It
could’ve been an injured bird that hit our window, a lost kitten that
(accidentally) followed me home, or a frog (or several) that just needed a place to stay for the night. Every single one of them, I was convinced, needed me! Of course they did! Or, at the very least, perhaps, I needed them.
Every animal, big or small, furry, feathered or scaled deserved my love,
and I had a lot of it to give. Lots of animals and lots of love, but then came Keena.
Keena was the very first dog that stole my heart. She was perfect.
She was a Husky, she was beautiful, and she loved me back. I was at the
pound, looking for a friend’s cat, and then I saw Keena. Her blue eyes
pierced into mine, and there was no way I was leaving that place without her.
We were a pack. We were meant for each other. We both knew it. We
just had to convince my parents when we both arrived back at home!
From that point on, dogs became a favourite, through and through.
It is dogs!
There was no other connection like them. They were loyal, kind, loving, obedient and adorable. Who couldn’t love a dog? Since Keen, a four-legged, furry best friend, has been abundant throughout my life, in all shapes and sizes.
At home, at friends’, at gatherings and at family members' houses, dogs are just a part of how we live. That’s just life. Loving dogs comes naturally.
I think for me, and them. It’s who I am and who I need.
Changing careers to make that natural feeling a daily
practice and lifestyle only seems right. I want to be around dogs all day, every day. And a chance to help them clean up, look and feel their best, really, the best job I could ever imagine.
Who wouldn’t want to meet new dogs for a living?

I’m so excited to tell you a little about myself and why I am a pet groomer. When I was 8 years old, I knew I wanted to work with animals as I had always loved them. My first dream was to be a vet, but then I realized all that a vet actually has to do and decided I wanted to make pets happy and loved, so I went into dog breeding and did that for a while as a teenager with my family. I love it so much, every part of it, the yucky and the happy parts. I loved taking care of my dogs' coats and making them shine. I started just taking scissors and hacking away at their coats. It was not a pretty sight, but I got better. Then my mom fell sick, and dog breeding wasn't something we could continue. I missed it. Then, a friend mentioned that I should try grooming and that she was going into a class to learn. She shared her knowledge with me, and as I got to practice on friends' and family's dogs on our bathroom floor, a love and passion for grooming grew. It grew into a business that I ran first out of the basement, then out of the su
room. Then I moved into the back of a Best West Pet Foods, and I LOVED it so much. Then I met my wonderful husband, and for 8 years, I just kept up a few clients and my dogs while I had babies, and we grew a beautiful family. Then the stars aligned, and I stepped back into my passion, and here I am now ready to hang out with your pet and help them look and feel amazing! For 18 years, I have played with dog hair and loved every minute of it, and now I am learning to play with colours and bringing a splash of colour to you and your pet. Learning this new skill has lit a new fire within my passion. I already love it! I can't wait to meet you and your pet, and maybe I'll get to add some colour to their coat!

While working with the under-socialized or traumatized dogs, I found a love for nervous dogs. After I completed my grooming training, I translated that love of helping dogs overcome into my grooming career. My goal and drive as a groomer is ensuring the pets' experience stays positive and helping them through what they may be scared of.
